Shivaji Maharaj Statue Unveiled at Navi Mumbai International Airport on Coronation Day, Fadnavis Highlights Legacy of Self-Rule

During the ceremony, Fadnavis expressed confidence that the statue would serve as a source of inspiration for travelers. He stated that every passenger arriving at or departing from the international airport would draw motivation and energy from the image, statue, and memorial of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Describing the occasion as sacred, the Chief Minister said the Coronation Day represents the global recognition of Hindu self-rule established under Shivaji Maharaj’s leadership. He added that the installation of the statue at the airport was earlier suggested by him, citing the strategic significance of the location in Raigad district, which also houses Raigad Fort, the capital of the Maratha Swarajya.

Fadnavis also expressed satisfaction that the monument project was completed within eight months. He congratulated Adani Airport Holdings Limited and the City and Industrial Development Corporation for the timely execution of the installation.

On the issue of naming the Navi Mumbai International Airport after late peasant leader D. B. Patil, the Chief Minister stated that the state government had completed all necessary procedures and was actively pursuing the matter with the Central Government. He assured that the formal naming process would be completed.

The unveiling of the statue on Coronation Day underscores the state’s emphasis on preserving historical legacy at major public infrastructure sites, linking modern development with the enduring symbolism of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s reign.
